It took me several years to get to where I am today, but I have not yet fulfilled all my dreams and goals. About 5 years ago, prostate cancer entered my life and it has drastically changed my daily routine. Despite this, I am grateful and happy with my current path and lifestyle. Seeking treatment was the best decision I made. Finding Support In a Prostate Cancer Group Zero, and becoming a Moderator, I found Support and was able to support others as dealt with daily challenges that any cancer can create.
The biggest reason for my gratitude is my husband Pete Cardiasmenos, whose love and commitment over the years continues to grow as though it were the first day we met. With his support, I have managed to survive for 5 years. If you are reading this, it is for a reason, and I want to share my story with you.
As a nurse who has worked in a clinic as a nurse. I also assisted ZERO End of Prostate Cancer organization, creating an ongoing LGBTQ Prostate Cancer Support Group. I have encountered hundreds of men with prostate cancer who have influenced my life and transformed my beliefs. I am grateful for all of them and the experiences I have had. At 67 years old, I feel blessed and compelled to give back to the community by sharing my story with other men, their wives, husbands, and children. I want to help them make informed decisions before giving up.
As someone who has experienced death both in my family and while working as a nurse, I know that life still has something to offer. My intention is to serve the community and give back in a way that my contribution expands. My hope is that it grows and is able to create and sustain an ongoing support system.

Life is about balance and finding your way to the best decision you can make at the time. What anyone has to say about it is none of my business. We all do the best we can with what we know at the time. My hope is that for you is that you take your time. Because we never really know, how long we will be kicking the can down the road.
